TOP Russian officials have been banned from leaving the country as paranoia over leaks and defections spread through Putin’s government.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) international travel to official business has been restricted as Putin looks to hold onto power within the Kremlin.

The British Ministry of Defence said such moves are “likely designed to prevent the flight or defection of increasingly disaffected officials”.

This comes as Ukrainian military spokesperson Oleksii Dmytrashkovskyi revealed the Kremlin’s forces have faced “colossal losses” as they try to gain control over the Donetsk region.

Russia’s army is reportedly losing more than 400 troops every day as it clashes with Ukrainian forces in the towns of Avdiivka and Marinka.
